[There is a link to a certain post on the network just in case some of her housemates haven't seen it.]
So, uh. There's a problem... He, uh. He knows me and Glitch both live here. And he's been in the house before without us knowing until long after he was gone.
Then you should relocate to a more secure space. That house has proven to be easy to infiltrate and the large side provides for a number of hidden entries and avenues of evasion.
If you would prefer you can stay here, even when I'd absent Iris would still be here and offers adequate security for someone such as him.
Or we can have DART go ahead and eliminate the problem.
Then I will increase his threat level among those who have joined. We will consider him to be a threat and he will surveilled and dealt with accordingly. If needed I will keep him confined.
I think you're right. I think I can get Tara to put up the same spells here that I did in Deerington to warn us if he's close, and keep him from coming off the property.
Assuming everyone is okay with that, of course.
[She is absolutely not making the same mistake twice on not consulting absolutely everyone in this house before making a move ever again.]
[Sayo had seen Maul's video. As much as she knows she doesn't deserve to take shelter here, the fact remains that she owes a debt to Clockhouse—no, more than that, she thinks of them as friends. She has to protect them.
Shannon, however, would be very worried about this development and would not already be plotting ways to dispose of the threat.]
Oh dear, um...
Would you like some aid with creating barriers, Willow-san? I've been trying to follow your studying advice to learn protective magic, but I'm not exactly an expert yet... still, I'll do my best to help!
Thanks for the offer - there's a real good chance we'll take you up on that. I just have to wait to hear from the rest of the house first. Besides, he said he won't do anything until he thinks no one is expecting it, and that's probably not a lie. He does like to try to terrorize people too from what I've seen.
I- If nothing else, my magic is still pretty weak so there's a chance he won't notice it when looking for your super-strong witch barriers and that'll be what catches him by surprise! [She chuckles sheepishly.
(Of course, Sayo doesn't mention that if Maul even tries to get into Clockhouse on her watch, she'll knock him out, slowly infuse him with Coldblood to keep him weak, and slowly, painfully chop his body into pieces while giving him ministrations to keep him alive as long as she can. She can't just back down from her threat, after all.)]
[This is a surprise, but a happy one. Willow is very much worried about what Maul might do, not just to her, but the rest of the family as well. It helps, though, knowing they are on her side.]
I, uh, did it in the dream - the, uh, de-invite spell was what I got it from. At the farmhouse and at TRUST. I can walk Tara through the spell here. It should work. You know, as long as no one invites him in.
[She takes a deep breath. It's as close to an admission that she can't do the spell herself as she feels she can put to words at the moment.]
[ Ange figures that there's a lot she doesn't have to say here, especially considering the other responses. Willow surely knows that Ange is more than willing to help with any protective magic measures if they decide to take them to keep the house safe.
So, more importantly-- ]
.. are you okay? I can imagine being used to this [ since Maul just.. always.. seems like this.. ] but that doesn't necessarily make it easy.
He's threatened me a lot since I stood up to Glitch, but this is the first time in awhile it's felt like actually a credible threat, and not just him blowing off steam.
[She pauses to gather her thoughts for a moment.]
I guess I kind of knew this was a possibility - that he'd break the curse we cast on him and immediately start backsliding, but I didn't think he'd actually find a way to break it without actually feeling real remorse for the things he did in Deerington. I figured even if he did try to pick up his old habits again, it would be... I dunno, less serious. If he had the experience of feeling bad about hurting the people around him.
[ Ange says it a little slowly. It's a firmly held belief on Ange's own part, but she's trying to be a little more tactful about it here. If not just because it sounds like Willow really did cast that curse with good intentions. Of keeping people safe. Of trying to give a crappy person an actual sense of regret.
Even if it didn't work in the end. ]
I don't think he's going to listen to anyone. [ It's why Ange also didn't even bother to send him a message. It'd be wasted breath, in her opinion. ] I'm sure you did what you could, but.. right now the more important thing is making sure that you can sleep without worrying about him coming into the house.
Uhh, yeah. A little. I dealt with him before back in Deerington. He's got an energy sword - it can cut through most things pretty easy. He can run faster than a human - he almost outran a horse the first time he came after me. He's got telekinesis too.
He's also got like this special power or something called "the force." It can do a bunch of different things. Like move things with his mind. Enhance his already pretty powerful abilities. It can also generate lightning but it's not something that he personally does.
[ Of course this has happened: every problem in this place seems just as unrelentingly cyclical as the dream itself. Ozpin presses a hand over his eyes for a long moment before he opts to respond. His tone is weary but level, genuinely calm. ]
We now have cause to be on our guard against him, Willow. There are many capable fighters in his household, and each of us is willing to face him should the need arise.
[This is the biggest flare of emotion she's felt since Tara tried to shake her awake while she was meditating earlier in the month. She's afraid, of course, that Maul will come for her, or the people she cares about, like he threatened to do to Glitch, and while she's not surprised, she's still genuinely touched by the way they've rallied around her, especially with Qrow finally speaking to her again. If there were any lingering insecurities after mending fences with everyone after the arguments last month, they're gone now.
Still, when she answers Ozpin, it's less confidence and more quiet resignation in her voice.]
I know... Trust me, I'm pretty sure this is the safest place in the whole city.
[She switches the feed over, and lets out a deep breath.]
I also know Maul's threatened me, a lot in the last eight months, and he couldn't act on it. Not without consequence, anyway. That's a lot of time for a lot of rage to build up, and now suddenly he's got somewhere to aim it, and he doesn't have to worry about what's going to happen after. I think I maybe got to him a little by reminding him we do have mutual friends who might not be happy if he came after me, but I don't know if that's enough.
[Of course she's more afraid than she's been letting on, and of course it goes a lot deeper than just being afraid of Maul, too.]
There's, um. Something going on with Tara. I don't know what it is, exactly, but it's getting worse lately. Like. A lot worse. If something happens just... keep an eye on her, will you?

[There's a pause as she considers Willow's next statement and she smiles. She was glad to see there was some more thought being put into this.]
Of course. If it ends up getting heated we can always put it to a vote too. I'd like to hear what everyone has to say about this.

I saw.
This is the last time I'm even going to try to help an adult who should know better.

We've got enough people here that the two of you should be safe. But, I agree with Ruby. We need to amp up the wards.

You know I'm gonna remind you again that you're fifteen and playing guidance counselor for adults is not your job, right?
[It's said gently and fondly because she's fairly sure Oscar cannot stop at least trying to help the people around him.]
I think you're right about the wards, though. It's definitely time for a magical security system.
