Well, I'll admit that frantically scrambling to try and keep her from being silly is a distraction. This waiting game is enough to drive any of us insane, after all.
I don't pop by that often, but how's the mood over at the house? I'm going to assume it's tense enough for her to do something silly like that.
[ It is, of course, unnecessary: his heart is not broken. He and Stanford shall be fine, in the end. Ruby is jumping eagerly to an unwarranted solution, understanding very little of the problem.
It has simply been a very difficult month. ]
'Tense' would be a gentle term, but I suspect that holds true throughout Deerington. It is, as you say, a difficult time for us all. There is not much to be done except to survive.
Still, I think it has helped substantially that we remain together... even if the close quarters are beginning to take their toll.
[Nuuuuuup. She didn't give two shits about his sex life. She was, in fact, mostly concerned about the general mood over among the others, given that she kept her distance most days. Admittedly...
The fact that Neo cared about any of this at all was a bit of a testimony to how the last year had altered some things.]
That's about what I thought. Ruby's kind of giving off the "Going Stir Crazy" vibe right now. We're doing alright over here for the most part, though we're keeping a real low profile. I only have so many ice and fire crystals left, and they attract bigger problems to use. I think part of her would like both of us to come over and stay.
I just don't feel right, shacking up under the same roof. Especially when I know I wasn't done screwing up.
Jaune and I talked. We didn't get into specifics. I'm aware I was working with Salem at least for a while. Vengeance will make you do very stupid things, and we'll leave it at that if that's ok.
I know that you guys wouldn't leave us high and dry. I just am not as comfortable trying to pretend that I haven't tried to stab most of you to death at some point. Ruby thinks of it as a work in progress, and it is. It's just a much longer work than I think it is with Emerald.
She needed you guys more than she realized when she got here.
[ For nearly as long as he has recruited allies, she has done the same. He has met all kinds in her service, and those driven by revenge are often chief among them. She finds them easiest to move around the board, perhaps. He has never truly faulted those who, given half a chance, might turn away. He knows what it is like to follow her.
We'll leave it at that shall be a kindness to them both. For now, at least. ]
[Admittedly, unlike Hazel, nobody had really ever gotten her to sign any dotted lines and Salem had promptly ignored her existence. But she wasn't wrong. It was a powerful motivator to doing really dumb things and not caring about the consequences.]
I'm pretty glad myself too. Emerald and I barely had time together back home to know each other. And I doubt very much that I would ever have enough time to actually talk with Red.
[Don't know about that, Neo. Might have a LOT of that soon, not that you know it yet.]

That girl does mean well, but she can be a lot to handle.

I cannot truly fault her for wanting a diversion, given the state of things.
[ And he is perhaps, quietly, a little touched that she cares. ]

A reasonable concern. You may indeed find that the mood would leave something to be desired.
[ He is not altogether certain Qrow wouldn't draw on them, particular with this degree of tension in the air. ]
But I would not turn you away, should you find yourselves so moved to seek shelter with our group.
Under circumstances like these, we must learn to rely upon each other if we are to survive.
