Nah-- we slept in bunks when we stayed in Atlas, before everything happened and then we woke up here. It's pretty cool sharing a bunk bed with someone old enough to have graduated!
[Spoken by the actual fifteen-almost-sixteen year old... who had only been fourteen at the time.]
If everyone agrees, it shouldn't be hard to do. I've even got some spare wood and hardware in the garage if you need help rigging one up.
[With the demeanor he occasionally slipped into, it's easy for Shannon to forget how young Oscar really was... even though she was only four one years older than him.]
Thank you for the help, Oscar-san. I'm pretty sure trying to put together a bunkbed out of all my bookshelves would've been a doomed endeavor...
[Living with Ruby was a constant adventure of watching equal parts brilliance and disaster spawn from the same source-- and Oscar had learned to roll with it.]
Seriously, though. A basic bed frame isn't hard, and we can find you two some nice head and foot boards in town once we get everything settled. We can get working on it as soon as you two are ready.
[He really needed a crafting project that didn't involve renovating the burnt out tower, and this seemed as good of a project as any.]
[... It wasn't like what he knew of Shannon to 'not rush into' something. Not when she was so willing to help with Oscar's Box Garden Potatoes as soon as she washed up in Trench.
Discreetly, he switched their conversation to something Private. ]
[And that's as far as she's letting this conversation go, even though a fresh geyser of despair (she could've saved him she could've saved him she could've-) wells up at Oscar's words.
If she ever finds Kanon, she's going to wring his little twink neck for revealing so much to Oscar.]

[Shannon giggles at how ridiculous those words seem once they escape her mouth.]
My, I sound like a twelve year-old when I put it like that, don't I?

Sayo remembers her resolution to tell Jessica everything, the resolve she'd managed to find while looking into her eyes on the beach.
Would there still be a need for a bunkbed after the truth came out?
She can't hide how she deflates slightly, even as her tone and smile remain the same.]
We probably shouldn't rush into this, though... there are plenty of other solutions without having to go to all this work.

... Is that Shannon saying this, or Yoshiya?

Shannon cocks her head to the side, acting confused even as Sayo starts panicking on the inside.]
Er... I'm afraid I don't quite get your meaning. Who's Yoshiya?

I heard about what happened at the beach with that monster, and how a mutual friend got stuck somewhere. Did... Do you remember any of that?
no subject
Are you alright?
[Said lyingly like a lying liar who lies.]
no subject
...You didn't figure out that I'm a Paleblood, did you?
[He knows liars. He is a liar-- and he knows the rules of the game of multiple entities in a single body.]

[Shannon quizzically cocks her head to the side. Sorry, Oscar, it'll take a lot more than this to get her to crack.]
Um, my apologies, but... what do you mean by that?
no subject
I was always pretty good at sussing out the truth. Trench made me better at it.
no subject
Er... what does that have to do with this conversation, Oscar-san?
[Once upon a time, Sayo would've given anything to have someone confront her with the direct truth, but not like this. Not here. Not now.]

All I wanted to say is that, if there's anything you know about what's going on with a bird we both know, I'd be interested in helping.
Also, Yoshiya didn't exactly stay on top of everything while you were busy.
[A shrug. Shannon could take it however she wanted. ]
