Someone was, though, and they seem to have executed their prank very neatly through Ruby Rose. He will try not to speculate as to who. Or how they know about the things James may or may not seem to want with his... cane. ]
[ He takes a moment to actually, genuinely chuckle at that. ]
The offer is appreciated, but I think I will continue to get by with this old thing.
Of course, given the strange properties of some threats in Deerington, I have thought about making some modifications. We seem to have a surplus of creatures lately that will respond to nothing less than antler or bone.
[ Or magic. And he cannot reliably continue to burn through that every time the town is beset upon by frost zombies. ]
Okay-Okay. Fine. That's fair. You can keep your old man cane!
Wait. Modifications? I can do that-
I've got a little stash of antlers and bone that I got from Ford and Stan back when the zombies around. Send me the measurements for the end of the cane and I can start build build something up for you. Even if it's just replacing the bottom section of the cane with a piece.
I confess I am somewhat protective of this weapon, given its age. Many components will respond well only if handled with immense care. This is not to say that I doubt your capacity for a delicate touch, but I would much prefer to join you in your work.
[ There is definitely nothing bad that can happen if one mishandles the Long Memory. It is just a simple cane. ]
Yeah- I guess it is a bit of an antique, isn't it? I get why you might feel that way.
Well, you did say it had a few tricks left to be shown. So yeah, I don't want to ruin it or anything. But I'd love to have the chance to work on it a little!

You said back in Mistral that it had a few tricks it could do. I'm not dropping this pogo stick theory yet.
Wait.
Maybe it's a scooter? Or a skateboard.

It merely holds a few special properties that are of interest only to me.
[ Just a few minor tricks. Nothing so exciting as a pogo stick. You know. ]

Fiiiiiine. I guess that makes sense.
That's kind of lame though, you know?
Maybe we should design something a little cooler for you.
I could help you out.

So yeah- Let's talk collaboration.
