Well, it's just for the day, and I think we're mostly managing okay. We can probably just stay in and read all day until things pass and go back to normal. Okay. Normal-ish. For here.
It just didn't seem right not to tell you guys Ozpin's okay, and will be back tomorrow.
[ She's right about that last part - and Ange isn't surprised about it, really. Of course Willow is kind enough to make sure to share that sort of announcement.
But since she's just right about it, Ange doesn't have much to say about that. Instead she can't help but zoom in on the first part, thinking back on one very specific memory.. ]
Willow, don't put it like that. You're going to jinx it.
Trust me, the shenanigans can get really bad in this sort of scenario. My first date ever was ruined by this exact thing.
... You know what? Maybe you're right. I take it back. Not jinxing anything.
But that's all I think we're going to do for the day, is stay in and just wait things out. Definitely no dates. Tara and I -
[She starts to type out that they aren't together right now. A mutual decision, perhaps, but it doesn't make it much easier. She pauses, and erases part of it, and decides simply on the following]
- are spending some time apart. Because of everything.
[Outloud, she takes a moment to address Ozpin.]
You ruined Ange's first date? Do I even want to know what happened?
Ange pauses for a moment, not texting back right away, because she does have to think on that for a moment. She's - of course - totally oblivious as to what Willow is asking Ozpin out loud, but even just what Willow types is enough to make her pause. ]
Are you okay?
[ It sounds like it's a thing they talked about, maybe even mutally decided upon, but Ange still can't help but ask. Just in case. ]
Yeah. I'll be okay. It's for the best, especially with Chara and Reaper out there. I don't want to put her in any more danger.
[She is not really okay, but there's nothing to be done for it at this point. They both need some space and time to process everything that's happened, and it's impossible not to recognize it.]
I think we're all more or less constantly in danger anyway.
[ It's just Ange lightly pointing that out. But on the other hand - she knows Willow already knows as much. Everyone in this place knows as much.
As such, Ange too knows that it's not the main reason for them to have separated for a while. It's why she doesn't press it too hard, and instead says: ]
I get it though.
You can always come to me if you ever want to talk about it or anything else, you know?
.. though maybe once Ozpin is out of there. [ Look, it'll just be awkward, having a third wheel old man during a girls' talk. ]
Yeah, but people like Reaper and Chara have already shown they're not afraid to go after people we care about. It definitely feels like it increases the danger.
[There are, of course, still other factors, that she doesn't really want to get too deep into. A girls' talk, though, is an appealing idea.]
Yeah. Once things get back to... Well, what passes for normal around here, it'd be good to sit down and have a talk. Maybe over some ice cream or something.
[Willow can't help a twinge of amusement - of course Ruby insisted on still going on a date in spite of Ozpin's presence.]
I guess that probably shouldn't be a surprise. Don't worry - there's no dates in our future. Kind of sounds like you're not the best wingman to have along anyway.
[ His responding laugh is more of a hmph, really. ]
I suppose it was not one of my best showings.
[ He thinks he did a fine job, actually. He was rather helpful in assisting Ruby with her bowling skills and impressing her partner.
It's just that the reveal of his presence came as something of a surprise, and not at the best of times. A joint error, really, on all their parts. Best not remembered. ]

Good luck with everything until then, Willow.
[ Or rather.. good luck with Ozpin up there, really. That's the main thing right now. ]

Ruby was entirely adamant that she still attend the outing despite our... unusual circumstances.
[ and under the bus goes ruby rose ]

Well, it looks like it turned out all right in the end. Look at how happy they are together.
